zapchenma blessing for britt & scott

bell and dorje
are ritual objects which represent the male and female aspects. In Tantric Buddhism the dorje and bell are used in many rites by lama. The dorje is a male polysemic symbol that represents many things for the tantrika. The dorje is representative of potency/effectiveness whereas its companion tool, the bell which is a female symbol, denotes wisdom/openness. Some deities are shown holding each the vajra and bell in separate hands, this symbolizes the union of the forces of wisdom and compassion, respectively. the bell invokes openness (which is the same as what is translated as emptiness but i never liked that translation, i find it inaccurate within the american lexicon because it denotes, a coldness and lack. for me openness is great spaciousness, like a warm holy honey in which we swim.) and the vajra directs to you (or whatever it's pointed at) the energies of the blessing as they are transmitted.

offering scarves/kataqs are a well know Tibetan custom where you present these offering scarves to spiritual teachers, lamas, Rinpoches, holy people, monks, nuns, at shrines, Tantric Thangka paintings, around pictures of H H The Dalai Lama, at statues of the Buddha or other sacred beings, and spiritual friends as an offering. it is a gentle custom. they are also exchanged in greeting, or after a ceremony. The kataq is an auspicious symbol. It lends a positive note to the start of any enterprise or relationship and indicates the good intentions of the person offering it.

the mantra with which i blessed you and scott are:

om tare tu tare ture so ha is the mantra of green tara, available for immediate help to all beings. she is the great mother.

om mani padme hung
is the mantra of chenerezig, the embodiment of buddha that is great-heartedness. he is love.
